Tomato and half

8''x8'', oil on gessoboard

I’m on a bit of a salad kick at the moment and seem to have a fridge full of tomatoes.  I have been painting all day whilst my other half digs a large area in the garden in which to site my new studio…………..so excited!  I have been in the attic for a couple of years now (let out occasionally) as my previous ”shed” became a tad leaky and has been relegated to garden store.

Albertine roses in a jug

8''x8'', oil on gessoboard

Even though it’s got colder, the Albertine is still blooming……just.  It would have helped if I’d been more diligent in my dead-heading but that always seems to be a bit too ”Desperate Housewives” when it comes to my Amazonian to-do list.   I have just been romping around in a friend’s fruit cages picking all manner of goodies for painting.  Can’t wait to get at it.  I’ve been very distracted by the Olympics which is wierd, since I’m not that keen on sport.  Must be the hype – I’m a sucker.

Peonies in a pot

8”x8”, oil on gessoboard – SOLD

These are the very last of the peonies.  In fact, I must hold my hand up and say I haven’t been painting today as I have been cooking instead and supervising the tidying of my daughter’s room……..from a distance, it’s the only way to stay sane.    A month-long nag fest.

Strawberry

8''x8'', oil on gessoboard

Well, those strawberries from yesterday didn’t last long.  Here’s the lone survivor who is helping us with our enquiries.

Strawberries in cornishware

8''x8'' oil on gessoboard-SOLD

The sun is out…..time for strawberries.  No post yesterday as I was in Bristol for my son’s graduation ceremony which was mercifully held in the nice cool cathedral.  Back up in my sweltering attic this morning with fan on full blast.

Wild sweetpeas

8''x8'', oil on gessoboard

I’ve been waiting a long time for the sweetpeas in my garden to flower but due to the deluge of rain, they are 6ft rugby-players but no flowers yet.  These wild ones are a lot more reliable.  At last some sunshine, mine may bloom yet.

Hattie’s other shoes

8''x8'', oil on gessoboard - SOLD

Well……..a well-heeled young lady if you’ll pardon the pun.  Mother couldn’t decide which she liked best so had both pairs consigned to canvas.    Have a good weekend.  I am soooo looking forward to waving goodbye to the jet-stream next week.  I went to the farm shop to find figs to paint next week and there were none!  Lemons again then.  Actually, I did pick up some watermelon.  The trick is to get it painted before my daughter eats it.

Hattie’s shoes

8''x8'', oil on gessoboard - SOLD

These shoes belong to my good friend Hattie, who is growing up too fast for her mother’s liking (She’s three years old, veerrry smart and  utterly adorable).  So, good old Daddy commissioned me to paint her first pair of shoes for posterity.  Makes a change from painting lemons.

Lemons and wallpaper

8''x8'', oil on gessoboard-SOLD

More lemons although, I’m not sure where the promised sunshine is.

Lemons in a ramekin

8''x8'', oil on gessoboard-SOLD

Yooo hoo…………..I’m back.  Spent a good week in Cornwall despite the rain.  All the girlies went in the sea and were even joined on the first Sunday by Harry and Wills no less.  However, we all missed noticing them, especially me as I was in the bar watching Andy Murray and the girls clearly having too much fun to register anything out of the ordinary!  This Sunday, I was incredibly lucky to see Paul Simon in Hyde Park with Ladysmith BM and Jimmy Cliff.  It was fantastic and with sharp elbows and a practised  ”excuse me, just need to get down there to find my friends, I think I’m lost” look on my face, managed to secure a good spot and bopped my little heart out.   Due to the veteran status of the performers, the demographic of the audience dictated the availability of plenty of “facilities” thank heavens so my fears were groundless.  Ok, too much information.  Anyway, in view of the fact that summer is apparently on its way………here are some lemons for those gin and tonics in the garden…….bring it on.  You will note that I’ve decided I really need to put my prices up due to long hours and expensive materials……sorry, can’t be helped.
