Figs and Japanese bowl

8”x8”, oil on gessoboard-SOLD

Figs are such a delight in the run up to Christmas.  It’s great to keep those memories of summer going.   This little Japanese bowl came from a shop in Phnom Penh that I came across this spring.  I’m off to speak to my butcher now to order a brace of pheasant………..not for a casserole but for a commission.  I wonder how he will react to my request for beautiful plumage!

Yesterday was very busy at the Country Living Fair.  Today I have been packing up the car for the Windsor Contemporary Art Fair this weekend and am off in the morning.  Here’s another of the larger paintings that will be going with me and I have also posted a photo of it in its infancy……at blocking in stage.  I will also have plenty of daily paintings.  I hope to see some of you at the fair.  If you get this on social broadcasting, I’d be very grateful if you could ”share” or ”retweet” …………get me!  Well, every little helps.

Dijon, garlic and shallot

8”x8”, oil on gessoboard-SOLD

I love the shape of this jar and the colour of Dijon mustard.  Any garlic in our house ends up in the studio and I can never find any when I’m cooking.  Tomorrow, I will be at the Country Living fair with some paintings on stand P52, that of Charlotte Supple Interiors.  If you’re planning on going, please stop and say hello and see all the wonderful things Charlotte has.

Yesterday, as a family, we decided to down-tools and play hookey.  We went for a very long, very wet walk and then to see Skyfall.  I have to say, I’ve never been a great James Bond fan, groaning at the inevitable Christmas re-runs, but this was really good.  Javier Bardem (is that him?) was a brilliant villain, so good that I dreamt of him all night…….and not in a good way.  Daniel Craig was,  as ever,  the pistol-packing hunk.  Except, he is beginning to ring a little less true.  I mean, excuse me but how come, wherever he ends up, in whatever situation,  arriving through whatever circumstances and however unprepared, he always has a change of clothes?…………..and always appropriate to the occasion?  However,  I have decided to forgive him this inaccurac
