Slipping Through My Fingers

1.5m x 1.5m oil on canvas

Well………..the best laid plans and all that.  No sooner had I got back into the studio than I went down with flu.   On the mend now and trying to get back into the groove.  I painted today but the paint is still wet and won’t photograph well and besides, I’m not that sure about today’s effort…………..I’ve yet to get my mojo back.   So, in the interests of posting for posting’s sake, here is a large painting I did about seven years ago.  We were living in Bangkok and I rather madly took myself off to the School or Art at the University and begged for a place in their studio.  None of the tutors or students spoke English, I spoke no Thai but they ignored me, I ignored them and we got on fine with a few smiles – mad English woman in corner!  It was pretty gruelling – just the journey there and back, let alone the hours stood dripping in 38 degrees.  Still, at least I could go home to my ”luxury” apartment.  They just unrolled their mattresses under their easels……….student loan repayments tough?……give me a break!  Anyway, this painting was a kind of response to my leaving my sons behind in school.  The shoes and jumper were my daughter’s and that discarded- on- floor thing?…… she’s made an absolute art form of it.  Hopefully a daily painting tomorrow.
