8″x8″ oil on gessoboard – SOLD

I have been on a social media course today (thankfully idiot friendly) and have learned a lot. Whether I can put it into practice is an entirely different matter. I have a request. Is there anyone within spitting distance of me who has a magnolia in their garden? I have a burning desire to paint a bloom (the cream coloured one) and am in serious danger of breaking the law. I have passed two or three on my travels in the car and fought the urge to jump out and cut some off, despite their being in private front gardens. You wouldn’t want me to be sent down would you? Let me know if you can help me keep my moral compass pointing south.
Now, I have decided that, in order to become more of a caring and sharing blog, I should pass on any tips that I have gathered along the way to other painters out there who may be bored enough to read my ramblings. So, Wednesday tip number one: Don’t bother scraping/wiping down your palette after every session. Instead, clip some grease proof paper to an old floor tile and chuck it out (the paper) when you’re done. It’s compostable but needs ripping up to speed up the process. Oh yes, and before I forget, here’s today’s painting from last week’s japonica haul (which I did get permission for).
