Yellow tulips
There is a patch of bright yellow tulips in my garden which really sing in the sunshine. They start the morning quite closed and then when the sun comes out they are like huge teacups, opening at the speed of light once picked. I had to work quickly on these!
Wednesday top tip, if you are picking something to paint and can’t do it until the next day, pop it in the fridge to stop it opening out. When I was working with the university botany team in Malaysia, bringing back specimens from the jungle to paint, my fridge always had more plant life than food…..plus some suspect bugs.
