Figs and marmalade

It can’t be Friday again already, surely.  These bank holidays are very nice but play havoc with my calendar.  There isn’t any marmalade in this pot really, I use it to store my brushes.  I managed to squeeze another couple of cosmos  in but they are wet so will show you next week.  Have a great weekend.  It’s the Moto GP at nearby Silverstone this weekend which usually means traffic jams and plonkers driving their motorbikes too fast in and out of said jams.  Boys and toys!  I shall stay home and paint.

Back from Cumbria and back to the easel.  Kirkby Lonsdale was at its best and we went on a trip to see where my mother-in-law was born.  She has generously shown me many lovely places in the lakes and dales since I’ve known her but none so lovely as this, the Kentmere valley.  A hidden treasure at the end of a terrifyingly narrow road.  The farmhouse had barely changed from the sepia photos we clutched in our hands.  Much catching-up ensued with the new owners who have been there a mere seventy-five years!  Any away, enough of that. Here are some figs and cherries.

Another cosmos painted on the same day.  We Re in Kirkby Lonsdale, enjoying fine weather and glorious countryside.  Yesterday we walked in Farleton Knot where we could see as far as Morecombe….. gorgeous.

Rescued before flattening.  I love white cosmos and this was donated. It went into the space left in my veg patch and now I have drifts enough to keep bringing inside.  The little jar can me from Phnom Penh when we were there last year.  Off to Leamington spa tomorrow where I will be showing my paintings in the shopping mall.  it’ due to rain all day so will be glad to be inside.

I wasn’t kidding when I said I was on a cherry fest.  Another one of several.  The rain has just mashed my cosmos but I did manage to do a couple before that Happened.   Will blog those tomorrow.  Thankful for smiles and not tears today.

I’m on a bit of a cherry fest this week.  It may seem a bit pointless painting the same thing over and over but it’s good practice.  Results day looming tomorrow.  I’m hoping for smiles……………

I couldn’t very well do the marmite without doing its partner in my props cupboard. Same wallpaper, different colour way.  I’ve been so embroiled in painting today that I haven’t left the house at all.  Floss has been tackling the ironing for me.  Teenagers aren’t all bad.

He’ll looo, I’m back!  That was a long break.  I’d like to report that I achieved great things but no……..my to-do list is still longer than a Christmas eve checkout queue.  Oh we’ll, I did have a lovely holiday so it’s not all bad.  Whilst I’ve been away, the portrait that I had accepted into the RBSA open has been hanging in Birmingham and I was delighted to see it hanging in such excellent company, next to some BP portrait winners.

I discovered this wallpaper by a company called Missprint and its retro style immediately appealed.
