Demo piece

Phew, made it back to Pakistan in one piece, which is always a bonus. It was a long journey with a six-hour stop in Dubai and I slept for 14 hours last night when I finally laid my bones down. So, back to normal today and whilst I get to the veg shop for some inspiration, here’s a demo piece from last week’s workshop. I had great fun on my three one-day workshops and had some lovely people who all said kind things about my teaching. Makes it all worthwhile. Next workshops will probably be in May.

Figs and blues

I had a little scurry around HomeSense (aka TK Max) the other day and found some more blue and white china……oh dear. My props cupboard is groaning now. These figs are on their way out but might just last till tomorrow when my workshopees can paint them. Which reminds me, three days of workshops and then flight back to Pakistan may mean no blog for a few days unless I still have the energy at the end of the day’s teaching. We’ll see…..we won’t hold our breath.

Figs on a blue shelf

I had to revert to my favourite when I saw them in a shop yesterday. What is it about figs??! Love ’em
Feeling a bit stressed now as I’m heading back to Pakistan soon so it’s a race to get everything done beforehand. That interferes with studio time which I don’t like one little bit. Hey ho. The shelf isn’t wonky on the painting – just a rushed photo!

Sweet avalanche

Life keeps throwing things in my way at the moment. Spent a very irritating day with a poorly car, sitting in the reception of a garage and then home to hastily help Floss with her claim for flood damage which needed to be in today for some reason! No painting, or at least, no finished painting……darn these short days!
So, here’s one I made earlier. A lovely follower wanted the flowers of her wedding bouquet painted so here they are.

HP sauce

Here’s a mate for yesterday’s painting, both done very quickly as a warm-up, getting back into the groove after the festivities. Getting back into the saddle takes a while. I fancied some plein-air today but even though the rain’s gone, the light is pretty flat.

Ketchup

Now here’s something that hasn’t seen the light of day recently. Even my offspring don’t put it on Turkey!
Salad days from here on in methinks. Just back from Leeds and salvaging Flora’s damaged possessions, getting her settled into temporary accommodation. Incidentally, a place has just become free on Saturday’s (9th) workshop so let me know if you’re feeling a creative urge and we’d love you to join us. (See www.pennygerman.com/workshops)
