Snowdrops and cornishware

Bags are packed and I’ll be flying back to Pakistan in the next few days. After a few days of washing/repacking, I’ll be heading out with Jobbers to Myanmar for a couple of weeks R&R and painting! Not sure what the wifi situation will be but will blog my paintings wherever possible. Looking forward to some sun and the odd temple.
Back later……

Snowdrops 2

Well I didn’t get any painting done yesterday but I did have a lovely day. Shopping and lunch with a pal in London, followed by a trip to see the Monet to Matisse at the RA (a must – I urge you to go!). It was lovely to see so many fabulous paintings including Sargent, Sorolla and even my favourite William Nicholson whose Miss Jeykell’s garening boots was given pride of place on the theme of gardens. I think my favourite garden painting was Green Wall by Santiago Rusnol and of course the sublime waterlilies by Mr. Monet. Anyone else been? Which was your favourite. Onwards after that to the Artists of the Year Award PV at the mall galleries. Didn’t come home with silverware but very honoured to be short-listed. Congratulations to the winners, you can see a lot of the work here http://makingamark.blogspot.co.uk/ (including my turnips on the wall, second photo) courtesy of the wonderful Katherine Tyrell whose blog is well worth a follow.
So…….more snowdrops.

Snowdrops

Ooooh it’s so nice not to be tearing around the country like I was last week. Back in the studio and loving all the snowdrops on tap in the garden. Big day out in London tomorrow (I know, I’m such a hick!) so no blog but back on Wednesday. Hope you enjoy this little snowdrops sketch – happy birthday our lovely Jean, wherever you are.

Mangosteens and Multan tile

That’s it. Cases packed, loaded with paintings and I’m off back to the freezing cold. Not sure when I’ll get to blog as up and down the country like a mad thing but will try my best. Have a lovely weekend.

Mangosteens

Jobbers had occasion to go to Bangkok last week and brought me back these Mangosteens to paint. I love these little jobs and they taste like heaven.

Heading back home again for a bit of Mummy duty. Got to get all of this month’s haul in a suitcase along with something warm to wear at home……hmm. I know which will take precedence. Some are going in the post and some to galleries so lots of framing and running around to do when I get back.
Will be back online in a few days……hoping for some snowdrops to paint if Imogen hasn’t flattened them all!

Small oranges, red dish and tiles

The last of those little oranges, I think I’ve picked the tree clean! There are some sweetpeas bravely climbing up the wall but they need a little strong sun yet……..maybe in a few weeks. My eye is firmly on them.
Incidentally, I’ve just updated my workshop page with new dates. You can check them by clicking here.

Hindu Temple

I had a lovely afternoon yesterday painting in Islamabad, an old Hindu Temple from pre-partition days. Lots of little scallywags watching me and chirruping away in Urdu despite the fact that I told them I didn’t understand.
Anyway here’s the end result. The yellow domed building will be next on my list.

Small oranges, pomegranate and red dish

One of my favourite props, a lovely glass dessert dish lent by a friend. These tiny oranges grow in all the gardens and are edible although I’m not that keen as they’re a bit tart. The weather here is glorious, too nice really to be stuck inside but hey ho……..we’ll battle on!
