Demo piece

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Wolverhampton to do a demo for an art group and this was it.
I love getting out and about meeting art groups…….such friendly types. I’m beginning to get into panic mode now as everything is blooming and there doesn’t seem time to paint it all.

Turnips

What a contrast today………beautiful weather. I brought in my turnips yesterday so that they didn’t get blasted across the garden into my studio window. Ok, so maybe a little bit far-fetched but I did want to paint them. I just love the colours. Have a wonderful weekend and I hope this sunshine stays with us. I’ll be in front of the tv watching the rugby no doubt.

Snowdrops

Doris is giving my studio a real battering today and I’m slightly anxious about the large tree next to it! Bubba was less than impressed on his walk today too and turned round pretty pronto.  Sensible dog.

I did manage to grab some snowdrops though before they all get blown away.  I do hope this blows over soon, if you pardon the pun.  Just to let you know, I have a couple of places left on my March 27th workshop if you’d like to come and join us.

Figs on glass

I was a bit surprised to find I’d sold this one this morning when I hadn’t even blogged it!  I think I uploaded it in advance.  Anyway, this was a quickie……..one of those loose ones done after slaving over a larger detailed work but I liked the way it turned out and of course, figs, I’m always happy.

Hellebores 2

Here are some more hellebores which are starting to spring up in my garden.  I especially love the deep red ones don’t you?

Strawberry jam

Well I don’t know about you but I definitely feel as though spring is here.  Lambs bleating behind my garden wall and beds full of snowdrops, not to mention the rise in temperature…….lovely.

So what did I paint to celebrate the arrival of spring?  A jar of jam of course, what else.  Have a great weekend.

Hellebores

I’ve been neglecting my blog I’m afraid as I’ve been very busy tearing around.  Firstly I went to Coton Manor to continue my ”year at Coton” project whereby I’m doing a plein-air and a corresponding still life for each month.  It’s fascinating to be there when it’s closed to the public and see how hard the team work to keep it in shape.  They’re getting ready for their Snowdrops and Hellebores weeks openng on Saturday.  Secondly, I went to Wolverhampton yesterday to do a demo for the Victory painting group who were a delightful bunch.  Today I’ve been in the studio painting snowdrops and cherries……but not together.  More on those later.

Porthgwidden

I did this little sketch in St.Ives last month when I went painting with art buddies.  It was freeeeezing and stupidly, I sat in the shade as I wanted to get that shadow drawing ever closer.   It may be worked up to a studio painting, or maybe not.  Anyway, it was a lovely little bay with a lovely little cafe that served lovely little lunches so I was happy in the end.

Narcissi 2

I couldn’t resist another go at these narcissi and this old jam jar which has shades of blue/green in it.
