Lilac

Lilac

8″x8″ – SOLD

Sorry it’s been soooo long since I last posted but a lot’s been happening. I will have to update you in dribs and drabs so settle back for a long ride! Firstly I’ve been finishing paintings and seem to have been spending a lot of time in the car! More about that later. Just back from Patchings which was huge fun and I had a brilliant bit of news. More on that later too though as I’m currently sitting having a long-overdue haircut. Here’s some lilac for your perusal which sold at the weekend while I was at Patchings.

Cosmos purity

Time is slipping away fast and we’ll soon be heading back to Pakistan so I’m painting like a woman possessed. It’s busy in the house with plumbers, offspring and grandma and grandad visiting but I’m slipping away to the studio nonetheless.

Cherries and cup

It’s definitely cherry season here. They are sold everywhere on the streets. I think it’s supposed to reach 45 degrees here today so I’m looking forward to coming home next week. I will be able to enjoy a bit of plein-air painting in the UK. Security here say it’s a definite no-no. I suppose I would stick out like a sore thumb standing there with an easel in downtown Islamabad, painting a cherry-seller.

Pears and teacup

I am back in Pakistan and battling the old jet lag. So much so that I had to lie by the pool all afternoon…..what a drag. Sorry.

Blue hyacinths

What glorious weather, I hope it stays fine for the marathon on Sunday although I won’t be running…..shudder the thought. Instead I hope to be painting on the Thames with David Sawyer and the Dulwich art group – a lot less exhausting. I’ve just been for a walk up the lane to find our farmer planting which is a great sign as it means that come August, there will be some stooks bathing in the sunshine for me to paint. He is one of few remaining farmers to grow thatching straw or at least to dry it in stooks. Bring it on. Anyway, I digress. Back to spring and some hyacinths.

Sweet peas in an ink pot

I just plain forgot to post this yesterday. The sweetpeas are still coming thick and fast but torrential rain yesterday and the day before have flattened them a bit. Getting ready for coming back to the Uk very soon.

These figs are from a friend’s garden.  The fig tree is his prize possession of her husband and he guards the crop closely.  This bounty had to be smuggled out for me.  I’m confident he doesn’t read my blog otherwise I’d be rumbled.

these are the same roses that I did last week, from a different viewpoint.  I’ve had a busy weekend with open studios.  Lots of lovely visitors.  I’m open each morning for the next two weeks so feel free to come and see what I’ve been up to……kettle’s on.

I’m on a bit of a cherry fest this week.  It may seem a bit pointless painting the same thing over and over but it’s good practice.  Results day looming tomorrow.  I’m hoping for smiles……………
