Figs 2

I had great fun at the studios of BBc Radio Northampton on Sunday morning. It’s all quite fascinating in there and I was able to chunter on about my work and exhibition.
I’m going to be working on a few big ones this week so oil sketches may be sporadic. Here’s one to be going on with. Figs yet again!

Figs 1

I think it may be here!! Spring, that is. Definitely warmer so that’s a good thing right?
There’s only one week left to see my exhibition at 78 Derngate, Northampton with paintings of the gardens and its produce. Speaking of which, I’ll be on Radio Northampton on Sunday morning around 10.35 speaking to John Griff about the exhibition, my painting journey and all sorts. Maybe even mention the theft!! Two paintings were taken off the wall and snuck past the desk. I know! Outrageous. Luckily all my facebook friends and the police are on it so I may get them back, you never know. Not quite Ocean’s Eleven but a big loss to me all the same. I do hope you’ll pop in and see the exhibition anyway. Also, I’m doing a demo at Coton Manor next Tuesday. If you’d like to come and watch, go to their website and book yourself on via their garden school. Fab lunch included and I can recommend their cakes…….sadly.

Figs and white pots

Having painted these this morning, I’ve just scoffed two for lunch. Love eating my subject matter! I’m hoping to get to Coton Manor tomorrow as there is some sunshine forecast and the gardens look wonderful at the moment so if you don’t hear from me – I’ll be in the beds with my easel. Enjoy your weekend.

Figs and cup

My love affair with these little beauties continues. I rarely get to eat them though as I tend to keep them in the studio for two long, squeezing every last bit of painting time out of them, and they end up wrinkled and sad. I’m off to Italy next week so will be eating them non-stop and fresh from the market with a bit of luck.

Four figs

These figs are getting overripe so had to get on and paint them before I put them in the dinner!
Love the bloom on figs and with this one I played around with the background a bit.

Figs

A little break from my beloved peonies today………to my beloved figs. I love painting both so at this time of year it’s always a fight. Anyway, I’m setting up to do a bigger one of these figs as they are so gorgeous. I may be tempted to eat them, that’s always the trouble.
Have a lovely weekend. A quick reminder that next weekend, I’ll be demonstrating and selling work at the fabulous Childwickbury Arts Festival near Harpenden. If you’re going, please stop by and say hello. It’s a great family day out and I’m really looking forward to all the fabulous food there for one thing!!

Figs on glass

I was a bit surprised to find I’d sold this one this morning when I hadn’t even blogged it!  I think I uploaded it in advance.  Anyway, this was a quickie……..one of those loose ones done after slaving over a larger detailed work but I liked the way it turned out and of course, figs, I’m always happy.

Figs

1767 figsThere’s a surprise – me painting figs again. I couldn’t resist the fact that these were the lovely teardrop-shaped ones rather than the squat round ones and anyway, made a delicious if cholestorol-loaded lunch with the remains of some Stilton. Oops.
In London all day tomorrow, Lord help me, so will catch up on Friday for the last blog of 2016!!

Wow, thank you.

Thanks to everyone who made it to my open studios this weekend but also to all of those who follow my blog, facebook page or instagram account.  Painting is what I love to do and when you buy something, you help me carry it on and when you read my blog, with or without comment, it makes it all worthwhile so – thank you!  Ohhhh yes, I took my gushy pill this morning.

These packs of Chrismas cards proved popular and are now available on my website.

Three figs

I love this time of year – all the fruits are beautiful colours.

Just wanted to let you know that I have spaces on workshops on 29th and 31st October and 1st November if you’re up for a fun day’s painting and a delicious lunch.  The one on the 1st is going to be Christmas themed with the opportunity to have your image made into Christmas cards with which to wow your nearest, dearest and long lost Auntie Maud.  The ultimate comeback to the brag-filled round robin Christmas letter!
