Marmite

There was really only one subject I could have on the easel today!  Haven’t done a Marmite jar in such a long time I thought I’d better do one while stocks last;)

Hope to see some of you at my open studio tommorow.  Plenty to see.  The postcode is NN12 8AG and thereafter, follow the yellow arrows.  Kettle’s on.

He’ll looo, I’m back!  That was a long break.  I’d like to report that I achieved great things but no……..my to-do list is still longer than a Christmas eve checkout queue.  Oh we’ll, I did have a lovely holiday so it’s not all bad.  Whilst I’ve been away, the portrait that I had accepted into the RBSA open has been hanging in Birmingham and I was delighted to see it hanging in such excellent company, next to some BP portrait winners.

I discovered this wallpaper by a company called Missprint and its retro style immediately appealed.

Marmite and cornishware

What a beautiful day it was yesterday. I got loads done including planting out sweet peas (risky but how long can it go on), marking out new veggie patch and filling crates with poo ready for planting. Here’s a painting that went home to a new owner from the spirit of summer fair.

Happy New Year to you all…………I wish you nothing but good things for the coming year.  Last year was a great one for me with lots of painting and art fairs and meeting lots of lovely people so here’s to another!

Just trying to get back into the groove although, until school goes back on Tuesday, it’s a bit hit and miss.  I managed a warm-up with my old favourite Marmite though.  My shoulder is feeling a lot better so hopefully that won’t be a hindrance again.  My new year resolutions?  Lots and lots of painting, hopefully getting out and about for some plein-air work and sharing all my news with you!

Water, water everywhere.   I delivered some paintings late yesterday afternoon and between the villages there were lakes of water on the road at intervals………not fun in a VW Golf.   I managed to get back ok, locked the doors and lit the fire……….bliss.

I’ve been busy lately working on larger works for upcoming exhibitions which is why the daily paintings haven’t been very………..well, daily.  I’ve also been stashing them away and labelling, filling in forms, framing, wrapping, pricing and a hundred other jobs………you get the picture I’m sure.   Here’s one that’s  just gone in the box.  If you are in the Northampton area, the Northampton Town and County Art Society private view is on Friday from 6pm at the museum.  If you’re in Shropshire or thereabouts there is one at Ludlow Castle from 6.30pm.  Until such time as I develop super-powers, I can only be at one and it will be Ludlow, would love to see you.

Hmm.  Love it or hate it?   Love it, definitely.  After a childhood raised on Bovril, I was converted upon marriage.  I’ve never looked back.
