Nasturtiums 2

I’m back! Back to the relative sanity of the UK where there is no restriction on my movements….yay. Islamabad at present is a sea of shipping container roadblocks and there are protests which have been going on for weeks now. I must say it’s nice to get back to Waitrose too. I have been busy painting larger pieces which is why you haven’t heard from me for a while. Here’s one I did before I left and also, very exciting, a page from. Country living mag this month which has a photo of one of my paintings in my pal’s living room.

Mushroom on tiles

8”x8”, oil on gessoboard

I haven’t posted much lately because I’ve got a ”frozen shoulder” that’s giving me jip at the moment.  I’m rationing my easel hours so as not to exacerbate the situation.  In the meantime, I’m really working those tiles which are actually from a photo I took in a hotel bathroom in Italy in September.  Nothing escapes me and I loved the colour and the chips in the tiles.  My camera always makes my straight lines look wonky but they’re not, honest.  I’m painting in my studio for the first time today.  It’s not quite ready but I am working on a brace of pheasant which need to be kept chilled so as not to encourage nasty beasties.  The trouble is, that means I have to be kept chilled too which is not my natural state.  I’ve come in for some soup.

Figs and Japanese bowl

8”x8”, oil on gessoboard-SOLD

Figs are such a delight in the run up to Christmas.  It’s great to keep those memories of summer going.   This little Japanese bowl came from a shop in Phnom Penh that I came across this spring.  I’m off to speak to my butcher now to order a brace of pheasant………..not for a casserole but for a commission.  I wonder how he will react to my request for beautiful plumage!
