Small oranges, pomegranate and red dish

One of my favourite props, a lovely glass dessert dish lent by a friend. These tiny oranges grow in all the gardens and are edible although I’m not that keen as they’re a bit tart. The weather here is glorious, too nice really to be stuck inside but hey ho……..we’ll battle on!

Pomegranate halves

I’ve just been to the vegetable/fruit shop and loaded up with pomegranates. I have a fancy to do some large paintings with them so bear with me. I’ve also discovered the joys of pomegrante on Weetabix. A bit of a delicacy and not sure Yotam Ottolenghi would approve. Have a lovely weekend.

Pomegranates and blue bowl

I’m not sure why I keep painting pomegranates because when I get back to Pakistan next week, they will be everywhere! Anyway, this one was a late Christmas purchase. Hoping everyone is surviving the mighty Frank today, fingers crossed.

Pomegranates

Well, I don’t know about you but frankly I’m glad that’s all over. Lovely though it was, soooo glad to get back into the studio this morning, completely ignoring all the mess and detritus that’s been left behind. Sorry to have been away but this festive malarky does take so much time to prepare for and now we’ve just discovered that Flora’s uni room in Leeds is a foot under water……marvellous. Anyway, that aside, here are some pomegranates that I managed at some point over the proceedings. Not the best of photos as the paint was still wet.

Pomegranates on blockprint

Exciting news! I am Country Living magazine this month. I haven’t seen it yet but hoping there will be a copy on my doormat when I get back to the UK later this week. So looking forward to seeing it and to painting some snowdrops and maybe even some snow or has it all gone now?

I’ve been busy prepping boards this weekend but still found time to walk in the hills and watch Andy Murray….what a pity.
Anyway, last post till Friday as am off to Amritsar to see the golden temple….woohoo!

Here is some more of that lovely block print and some more pomegranates. I dropped some more small paintings into Forge2 today (www.forge2.org.uk), a lovely gallery in Culworth, Northants.  Well worth a trip, there are some wonderful paintings, prints and crafts there plus a great pub for lunch to boot.

Home again, home again……….the drop in temperature was a bit of a shock!  After a night under a warm duvet,  I’m back to winter mode…almost.  I had a couple of goes on these lovely pomegranates before I left. They are so sweet and crunchy, I hadn’t really  appreciated how sweet they should be.

My but it’s cold today, especially watching hockey!  The festive season kicks off for me this evening with bookclub Christmas Party……yea.   This involves eating a four- course dinner, chatting with friends and drawing vague reference to the book I haven’t quite finished.   Culture vulture?  Not me.

hank you to all who came to see me over the weekend – what a sociable time!  I don’t think I ever want to see another mince pie.  I’ve got to get cracking now on finishing commissions and then take a long deep breath over Christmas.  I failed to post my weekly film review last week too.  A must see is Silver Linings Playbook – fab, really funny and quirky and I enjoyed it immensely despite  by the woman next to me continuously rattling her paper sweetbag………why??  This is quickly becoming a film review blog with a painting attached – and a call to cinemas to ban paper sweet and popcorn bags.  Anyone with me?
