Gated road, Slapton hill

The other evening, I fought off the urge to paint bluebells and went back instead to this road where I’d done a practice walk with the WTW group. Lovely spot and I love rape fields.

The first of my new frames left the house today and I must say, I was pleased with the overall effect. Think they’re a winner!

Lemons on blue

A request for more King’s blue…yay. This colour makes me happy. Now I have five lemons in my fridge and no time to bake a cake. Any ideas for some quick way to use them up?
I was thrilled today to receive my delivery of frames that I found on my trip to South Africa. They are made from recycled wood by a company that aims to get local, previously unemployed people from a hope centre, into training and work. I love them!

Orange segments

Whooomph! Back down to earth with a thump after our wonderful trip to South Africa. I so enjoyed painting there and will show you the results at a later date. Below you can see me in a couple of venues painting away. The strange capsule is a deserted lifeguards hut which I made use of as it was so windy on the beach. It was a great find and Jobbers went off to find me coffee…….what a star. He makes a great painter’s companion! Sadly, the painting was a “wiper”. You win some, you lose some. Flat light, grey day…..it just didn’t work out.
Anyway, here are some bright oranges instead. It’s pouring here so these remind me of South African sunshine.

Swellendam

Here is where we are holed up for two days, under the “eleven o’clock mountain” as it’s known locally as that is what time the sun hits it. Not today alas, I flew off that track quickly when lightening struck and went to rescue Jobbers from the golf course. Found him at the 19th with a couple of hardy old retired locals shooting the breeze. Nothing for it but to join them until the rain stops. No luck yet and I really want to paint this small house before we move on.

Painting in Paarl

I’ve fallen head over heels with this country! This was my view in waking up yesterday morning so just had to paint it. Vines, mountains, what’s not to like? Am seriously thinking of organising a painting holiday here…..anyone in?
