Strawberries and jar

We have been enjoying a veritable glut of strawberries at Chapel Cottage, them being pretty much all that there is in our veggie beds since were not always able to water. If I had the time or the inclination I would make jam. I wouldn’t be able to compete though with the jam sent to me by a lovely blogee of DPCC. Her ravishing raspberry jam is to die for and is much enjoyed here. Hence the empty jar!
Have a lovely weekend. Wish I was going to Glastonbury but don’t know if I could cope with the loos!

Strawberries

I forgot to blog this one, it sold at Childwickbury, which reminds me…….. The prize draw I ran there has been won by Catherine.ibbott so if you’d like to email me your address, I will pop the painting in the post to you – congratulations. Right, I’ve been in the studio all morning, the sun is shining and I’m off out to paint wheat fields.

Strawberries and spotty jar

It was a long, long, long, long drive home from Provence at the weekend with some spectacular storms over Dover when we got Ukside but boy, was it worth it. Bonnieux, where we stayed, has to be the prettiest village on earth and I just wish I’d had more time to paint. Here’s a still life in case you’re fed up with French landscapes but be warned, there are more.

Roses and strawberries

It’s getting hotter by the day here and all the plants have given up. The roses have all died now but I managed to do this before they did. I’ve no idea what comes next. It’s quite exciting to see what flowers here, I think we will have to wait for the monsoon before anything else pops up. Mango season next – bring it on.

Strawberries in a bowl

Please excuse the prolonged absence. I have been painting but working on larger paintings for galleries. I will show them to you when they are all complete. I have been enjoying the strawberries here but not particularly the recent spate of unrest. What with lockdowns due to protests and no-go areas it’s a job to get about at the moment and is seriously detrimental to shopping with Flora who is out for half-term! I also want to get painting plein-air here but not feeling particularly comfortable about standing around with an easel. I may resort to photographs but it’s not the same. Anyway, these strawberries presented me with no danger at all, unless you count the possibility of a stomach upset which is par for the course mostly!

The sun is out…..time for strawberries.  No post yesterday as I was in Bristol for my son’s graduation ceremony which was mercifully held in the nice cool cathedral.  Back up in my sweltering attic this morning with fan on full blast.

Painting won

The painting was won today by Holly from Buckinghamshire.  Welcome to all my new subscribers, it’s great to have you on board.  I’ll do another draw soon(ish)!  No post tomorrow as I’m off to Queens to watch tennis – doing an anti-rain dance as I write.

Blogiversary and strawberries

8''x8'', oil on gessoboard, NFS

Today is the one-year anniversary of my blogging history!!  Yip, yip………I made it.  I’ve been daily painting for longer than that but started the blog this time last year.  Sometimes, it’s been hard to think of something to write but it’s all about the painting and the discipline has been really good for me.  I intend to carry on until such time as I start to go mad…………….could be quite soon.

To celebrate, I am giving away today’s painting to a subscriber who will be chosen at random on June 10th.  If you’re not signed up, please do so, it will encourage me to carry on.  It’s very easy and you can unsubscribe anytime.  Your details will not be passed on to any third party so …………….go on, press the button – you’ve got to be in it to win it!
