I managed this one before everything in the garden got flattened by rain and strangled by rampant bindweed. It was done as a step-by-step demo for an article in The Artist due out in the winter so I’ll let you know when it’s out. It sold at the weekend.
Morning. I couldn’t resist one last quick stab at these before they all fade. No purple ones left though which was weird. Anyway, the joy is I get to do it all again when they come out in the UK, that’s if there are any left to buy as seedlings.
Right, I’m going offline for a couple of weeks. Tomorrow I’m going on an exciting adventure and taking my paints with me but it’s pretty remote so no chance of wifi. I will try and post the paintings I do when I get back and then I’ll be back at the easel in the UK for a while. See you then!
Another aborted plein-air attempt. This time, I’d left half my paints at home! I think I’m jinxed this week so repaired to the house for some more sweetpea painting.

We’re awash with Sweetpeas here and I’m just wondering if it’s too late to ask someone to plant me some at home…..drat, think I may have missed the window. I went painting at a local spot on Sunday but had an equipment malfunction in the form of a broken tripod. Jobbers has come to the rescue to fix it so hoping to try again tomorrow….if I can bear the heat. It’s not that it’s unbearable yet but standing in it to paint seems warmer.

Cases are packed and ready to go. It’s almost a shame to leave all these sweetpeas that are everywhere at the moment but hopefully they may still be struggling through once I get back. I can’t find a decent vase here so I’m getting more resourceful with my receptacles…..oooh er Matron. I’m gearing up for daffs now and long bracing walks……lovely. I have had a few walks up through the Margalla hills which surround Islamabad but alas, there is no pub at the end!

I just plain forgot to post this yesterday. The sweetpeas are still coming thick and fast but torrential rain yesterday and the day before have flattened them a bit. Getting ready for coming back to the Uk very soon.

Look what I found! The place is teeming with sweetpeas. Obviously March is the month for sweetpeas in Pakistan – strawberries too but that’s another story. I convinced the site gardeners that they would grow all the better for being picked which was possibly just in time as it is positively teeming here today and I fear they may not survive the onslaught.
