Artichoke, Cabbages and Roses

I’ve been pretty busy painting larger works lately for a special reason which is under wraps at the moment. Hopefully, I’ll be able to impart that info in a couple of months but in the meantime, here’s a sneak preview. Hope you like it.

Figs and wallpaper

I thought I’d make use of the figs while they’re around.

I’m pleased to say that I’m now a gallery artist with The Harbour Gallery, Portscatho and Art Salon (opening soon in Bath).  Art Salon will have some of my larger work at the Bristol Affordable Art Fair from 9th September so if you’re in the area, please go and have a look.  I quite like the dichotomy between the fast oil sketches and the more studied larger pieces, it’s a bit like doing a few exercises to warm up before a run.  Not that I ever run!

Mackerel

I’ve been busy finishing off this one so no daily painting for today. This is a larger one 30×40 and boy, did it get smelly in the studio! Need to work faster if I’m going to carry on the fish theme. I have a fancy to do a crab but I think they’re sold live here and I can’t bring myself to either boil it or let it die slowly and certainly don’t want to find it halfway across the studio floor in the morning – dilemma!

Bramleys and paper

More bramleys from before I left but this one was bought from the drying shelf in my kitchen! When I’m at home, I’m always happy for people to call in at the studio – just give me a call. Sunshine again today but I’m painting turnips……more on that next week!

8″x8″ oil on gessoboard – SOLD

I’m in Bath today so had to get this one out early. Hoping to paint on my way home but let’s see what the weather brings. Glorious city, glorious countryside.

Snowdrops and wallpaper

What a wet, dark day! The studio is a little dim even though one whole long side is glass. So, I’m painting cheerful narcissi and trying to keep it loose and fresh! Will post soon but in the meantime……more snowdrops.

I’ve been busy prepping boards this weekend but still found time to walk in the hills and watch Andy Murray….what a pity.
Anyway, last post till Friday as am off to Amritsar to see the golden temple….woohoo!

Roses and wallpaper

I’ve been out and about painting today as I couldn’t resist the sunshine. I’m in dire need now of a cup of tea. I will probably post a photo next week as the paint is drying but here’s a photo in situ and today’s still life.

Ooooo back home. The weather was atrocious but it was good to see my mother-in-law looking so well after a nasty operation, bless her. Looking forward to time in the studio tomorrow but here’s one I did the other day.

Huge apologies….and some figs

I have a huge apology to make. It has just become apparent to me that some of you have been emailing me at [email protected] but the messages were not getting through. I’ve read so many lovely messages and oh dear, a couple of persistent ones so I apologise if I have not replied/auctioned a request – especially to Christopher who left a phone message but unfortunately not an email address – please let me know if you get a result, so sorry! So I will deal with them all and if you’d like to contact me in future and get no response, try [email protected] and I promise to work on joining the 21st century with a little more accuracy. (Definitely not apologising to the email offering me a penis enlargement…..hmmm. Flaw in the plan there!).
